Charlotte Division receives Partnership of the Year Award Ashbrook High School, Gaston County, awarded Watson Electrical’s Charlotte Division Outstanding Business Partner of the Year for 2006 for their commitment to school programs and employment of graduates from Ashbrook and surrounding High Schools. In addition, two of Watson Electrical’s apprentices were inducted into the Gaston County Trades Hall of Fame, Brad Pressley and Aaron Buchanan (Aaron was unable to attend). The District Career Development Coordinator characterized Watson Electrical as a showcase example of how business and industry has a direct impact on careers for youth in the community. Commitments to the future of our young adults such as Watson Electrical has done over the years reflect what all industry should aspire to accomplish. Watson Electrical has employed more than 20 graduates from Gaston County Schools over the past several years and continuously seeks out hardworking students who want to get a jump-start on their futures. Rick Carson, Ashbrook Electrical Instructor, was also on hand at the ceremony. Rick has always been the vital link in connecting students to careers! Sandra McCarthy, Service Coordinator and Apprenticeship Instructor (one of only two females in the Carolinas) were also present with Greg Lilly, Service Manager and Apprenticeship Instructor. Mike Watkins, Hiring and Training Administrator for Watson’s western divisions, said that “this partnership exemplifies what Watson Electrical is striving to achieve in all of its construction divisions across the Carolinas and Virginia!” Thanks to everyone at Ashbrook High School who made this partnership a success – the students, their instructors, administrators and their families that support them! We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Ashbrook High School and other high schools in our service areas to provide students with career opportunities at Watson Electrical. |
