Watson is continuing its tradition of being a leader in the electrical industry by including electrical preventive maintenance as part of our service offering.  Other trade contractors, such as HVAC, have been doing preventive maintenance agreements for years.  This is relatively new to the electrical industry.  Our program is called TEGG Service. 

TEGG Service EPM (electrical preventive maintenance) offers building owners, plant managers and facilities managers of all businesses a proven, proactive, comprehensive electrical diagnostic and maintenance program to ensure safe and continuous internal electrical power.  We use the latest technology such as thermographic scanning, ultrasonic scanning, and power quality analysis to detect any problems or potential problems with the electrical distribution system. After the testing, we provide an electrical systems analysis report detailing the results and recommending action to be taken.

The NFPA, IEEE, and the insurance companies have found by having a comprehensive EPM program, you will cut down o­n the number of fires and the number of failures.  You will reduce business interruption expense and enhance power quality.  The leading cause of fire, other than arson, is electrical problems.  The NFPA indicates that two-thirds of those fires could have been prevented with a good EPM program.  The IEEE’s studies show that 80% of electrical failures can be prevented through an EPM program.  A business that was shut down by a failure loses revenue during the time it was down.  Business interruption expense can run from a typical small business around $2,000 per hour to a brokerage operation of about $6.4 million per hour.  Power quality is a big problem today due to the growth of microelectronics, i.e. computers.  Microelectronics demand clean, dependable power.  Without it, you can get disruption of power or voltage sags and/or surges.
