06.14.2005 Watson Electrical Wins Awards
Watson Electrical received the Outstanding Apprenticeship Program Award for 2005 at the NC Department of Labor 21st Annual Apprenticeship and Training Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 26, 2005. The ceremony was held in the Governor Kerr Scott Building at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. “The Apprenticeship Advantage” was this year’s theme. The following apprentices from our Charlotte Division also received awards at the ceremony:
James D. Boykin, Jr. received Outstanding Fourth Year Apprentice Award Jonathan F. Spargo received Outstanding First Year Apprentice Award
Speakers at the ceremony were Cherie Berry, NC Commissioner of Labor and Jennifer McNelly, Director of Business Relations Group with the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, Washington D.C. Also, a panel of apprentices shared their training experiences ranging from High School through the Master Craftsman level.
The program is actively managed by three training professionals through frequent classroom and field visits. The application process is competitive but has mechanisms in place to assist applicants that do not meet minimum requirements. Recent graduates of the program have not only received rewards through various competitions, they have the opportunity progress in their careers with additional training programs such as Construction Management Training Program and Project Manager Academy. Watson’s Apprenticeship Program was originally implemented to help develop qualified electricians but has also become the foundation for the employee’s career path.
Congratulations to Watson Electrical on receiving their award.
