Watson Electrical has had employees on the BEQ 423 Renovation at NAS Oceana (Virginia Beach) project for over two years. With all of the challenges of design issues and change orders, all Watson employees on this project have been outstanding to work with. From the demo phase to a weekend long outage replacing the primary transformer, each and every employee has been professional, hard-working, and most of all, safe.
We would like to give extra attention to Frank Lewis (Foreman) and Kris Grauman (Apprentice). These two Watson employees have gone above and beyond anything we could have ever expected in the way of service and commitment to a company. Frank and Kris are always punctual, cordial, and again, safe. They always keep their work areas clean and easily work with other trades. If we were told something was going to be done, it was done.
To sum up, this has been our first contract with Watson Electrical, and based on this experience, we would surely hope it's not the last.

Just a quick note regarding your crew that has done all of the electrical work at James Island Charter High for our new equipment install. I met and worked with Rex Thomas, Jesse Babington, and Ronald “Red” Owens (Charleston Division). All three were extremely professional, hardworking, and very patient with me and the equipment delivery folks. This was a complicated job that involved a lot of prep work before the new equipment arrived and even more work once the equipment arrived.
Rex was especially helpful throughout the process. He gave me his work cell and home phone in case I needed to call. On Sunday, Rex had issues with the alarm code and could not get in the building. He left me a message that he could not get in. When I got his message, I called him back and he immediately met our cafeteria manager at the school to do some finishing touches.
Rex even noticed a water leak on the football fields while he was at the high school. He notified us and we were able to contact the school's maintenance folks to let them know. They came and fixed what could have a very messy and problematic issue. They were grateful that Rex took the time to let us know, instead of ignoring the problem.
Long story short, I was very impressed with the work and customer service of these three men. They got the job done right, and they got it done on time. We were ready to serve those 1,600 students on Monday, and everything worked perfectly.

I am writing you this letter so you can recognize two of your team members, Mitch Grizzard (Mechanic / Greenville Division) & David Steffens (Supervisor / Greenville Division), who were a very vital asset to the success of the Winterville Academy project, which was completed on time with the highest quality of workmanship and professionalism.
Mitch was a strong part of my team's positive attitude, which showed other team members what can be accomplished when we work together as a TEAM. Mitch worked very well with the other contractors on site and helped everyone he could. He was very safety conscious for everyone that came on site, not just his team. He maintained a clean work area that set an example, not just for his men, but for all team members.
David would come to the site and check to see if Mitch needed any material and manpower etc., keeping focused on my schedule and the project needs. David was very respectful to me and all team members. On the last day on the elevator inspection, we had a shunt switch go bad. David was immediately on it, looking everywhere he could to find one. Fortunately, he was able to find one, but it was 2 hours away. Without hesitation, David drove there and back without any delay so we could complete our elevator inspection and so we could receive the TCO for this project.
I have been traveling all over our country for the better part of 20 years as a Project Superintendent, and have not worked with a better electrical contractor than Watson Electrical.
Clifford G. Hall, Project Superintendent, Winterville Academy
I wanted to take a moment to thank a couple of your service techs for the tremendous service they delivered to our facility today. Greg Marvin, Serviceman, and Chris D’Avanzo, Helper (Charlotte Division) came to change out bulbs in our Fellowship Hall, kitchen and storage area. The Fellowship Hall has vaulted ceilings that are 18’-20’ at peak. I asked them to kindly knock the bugs out from the light covers while they were in there, and Greg said that was no problem and had already done that with the lights he had replaced. Both gentlemen were polite, cordial, and worked efficiently to complete the job in a very professional manner.
In a time when it can be difficult to get work done right, it is a pleasure to have Watson Electrical employ guys that really show they care about what they are doing. It was such a pleasure I just felt really led to tell you that in “person” – Thanks to Greg and Chris, good work guys!!

On behalf of Moonshine-Buttress, LLC, the owner of a 100,000 square foot warehouse in North Charleston, I write this letter to inform you of our appreciation of the fine job Neal Huffman (Project Manager/Charleston Division) has done in the recent repairs and replacements in our facility. After two break-ins in which extensive electrical vandalism was done, our call to Neal was promptly answered with very professional and competent services by Watson Electrical. We could not be more pleased and respectful of the manner in which Neal and Watson Electrical fulfilled our needs.
Neal performed beyond our expectations in assisting us in the repairs and in the management of the situation, which included keeping a tenant in the building in the dark. By observing Neal's impressvie efforts, the tenant was confident that all that could be done was being done as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
We commend Neal for his outstanding performance in the matter.

First off, thanks for a good site visit Friday with you both {Chris Capps and Bill Robinson} and Jorge Galvan (Foreman/Raleigh Division) at the Elm City site. I think we all agreed the meeting was helpful and got everyone on the same page regarding the monitoring requirements for the project. We are looking forward to getting it all installed and commissioned soon with the help of the Watson crew!
But what is really on my mind this morning is the commitment to quality that your team has made on this and all the solar sites you have under contract. As I mentioned to you both, I was impressed by the attention to detail and the high level electrical craftsmanship on the project. Kudos to your team for that commitment.
I am an avid reader and yesterday as I was re-reading Good to Great by Jim Collins, in the chapter discussing Level Five Leadership, there was a quality attributed to Colman Mockler, CEO of the Kimberly Clark Corp that I believe applies well to Watson's commitment to quality. Let me repeat it here for you:
"His placid persona hid an inner intensity, a dedication to making anything he touched the best it possibly could be. Not just because of what he could get, but simply because he could not imagine it any other way." (pg. 25)
Sound familiar? I think it describes your team's dedication quite well and because we share that same passion and intensity for building the job correctly the first time, I am confident that together, we will make these and subsequent projects among the best built in NC and the Southeast! Many thanks for allowing the Affinity team to be a part of them and your team very much!

I would like to express my appreciation to the Watson Electrical (Virginia Division) team for the outstanding job they did in working with the Tyco SimplexGrinnell team on the Babbett Smith Hall Fire Alarm Replacement project at Norfolk State University. Special thanks to Steve Calhoun (Project Manager), Maurice Toussaint (Supervisor), Frank Lewis (Foreman), and Zach Gershon (Service Technician).
As you are aware, this project had one of the most aggressive schedules that I have seen in a number of years. The scope of work consisted of the installation, testing, and programming of over 1000 fire alarm devices in two 11-story towers. From the notice to proceed to the sign off, this project was completed in less than 30 days, meeting the University's schedule for moving students into the dorms for the fall semester.
Thanks to the entire Watson team for working with SimplexGrinnell on this very successful project.
Jim Collins / District General Manager / SimplexGrinnell
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support when we were experiencing difficulties with our Charging Stations. Your help was critical in troubleshooting and resolving the issues. I understand that you bent over backwards for us, spending a significant amount of time in research on our behalf. Your commitment to delivering excellent service made a huge impact on our company's ability to connect with our employees. We at Caterpillar are very grateful to Preston Kilman at Charge Point and to Chris Davis (Serviceman, Winston-Salem Division) at Watson Electrical for taking such great care of us. We at Caterpillar greatly appreciate your services.

I spoke with Dale (Vanhoy, Winston-Salem Division) this morning to make sure that the guys would be here today since they had been called away to another job. The reason for me calling, I had one of our teachers approach me asking if the guys would be back or had they already finished the job. She informed me that the children and staff all missed them being here, and that the children had made them each cards and had them Gateway T-Shirts.
Dale did tell me that the guys would be back and should be here in a moment, which they were. The guys really have done a good job. They have worked very hard, and have been very prompt and professional. They have showed our children and staff respect and have been most considerate to all. Please do not think that I am only trying to boost someone’s ego. I am not, I am only giving credit were credit is due. The guys will be missed by each of us here at Gateway when the job is complete; they have become part of our Gateway family. And believe me, if our children and staff welcome you into our school and family, you have captured the hearts of some terrific people. Please let the guys know just how much we have appreciated them and how much they will be missed. Thank you for your time, and please know that you have some really good guys working for your company.

“I wanted to bring to your attention the good work that Bryan Stough
(Burlington Division) did for me recently. As you know it can be
unsettling to have a stranger working in your house, but Bryan was
great. He arrived on time and it was obvious when we talked about
the job that he would be able to get it done with no problem … In the end everything was done as ordered with no shortcuts. As a
customer what I really want is to feel like ‘I got my money’s worth’
and Bryan truly leaves you with that feeling. Many thanks to Bryan for
a job well done!”

I am the owner of T.D. Goodwin Construction in Greenville, NC. I have worked in the Greenville area for the past 12 years in primarily design/build business. During that time, I have been fortunate enough to transition from being employed to being self-employed. It is much tougher than I could have ever imagined. I have had to really choose my team of subcontractors very carefully. With that being said, I would like to tell you that my relationship with Greg Philligin at Watson Electrical in Greenville has been nothing more than an impeccable success on all accounts. Not only does he exceed my expectations, but he does it with the best team-player attitude you could ask for. My pleasure in working with this organization has been such a success that I thought it warranted a letter of gratitude. So, thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you for the quality and the safety attitude that your employee, Leonard Edwards (Wilson) displays while working for us here at Jarden Home Brands. We had an OSHA inspection that went very well. OSHA noticed the Watson Electrical van and asked what the employee was doing. I was happy to reply that I knew he was using our scissor lift, installing some conduit for lighting with the safety harness in place. Excellent work on his behalf and to no surprise, for he has always done exceptional work.
