Wilson, NC – Watson Electrical Construction gathered 22 of their top apprentices to compete in the 25thAnnual Apprentice Contest last Friday (July 26, 2019) at the Wilson County Fairgrounds.
Each apprentice starts with an empty booth, blue prints, tools, and their skill. They have four hours to complete the plans with accuracy and efficiency. It is an intense, focus driven, competition that highlights the skills required in the electrical field. Apprentices are judged on their knowledge of the National Electrical Code, precision in executing the project, and safety during the build.
This year the competition was fierce. In the closest contest ever held, the scoring between the first and second place winners was a mere 0.06 points.
Timothy Amerson, first place winner, said that the close finish between the 2nd place winner and himself really closed the contest out on a high note for everyone.
