Raleigh - Watson Electrical Construction Co LLC's (WECC) apprentice Wesley Sartain (Raleigh) won first place in the 2018 NC State Fair Electrical Apprentice Contest.
The contest measures the apprentice’s mastery of skills such as conduit pipe bending, knowledge of the National Electrical Code, the accuracy of layout and installation, the operation of an energized system, and safety.
WECC had eight apprentices competing in the NC State Fair Electrical Contest. They are Timothy Amerson (Rocky Mount), fourth place; Joseph Hensley (Raleigh), sixth place; Steven Hofmann (Charlotte); Cody Jones (Winston-Salem); Jesse Marban (Raleigh); Jon McMillian (Wilmington), ninth place; Christopher Pavelek (Raleigh), tenth place; and Wesley Sartain (Raleigh), first place.

Virginia – Watson Electrical Construction Co LLC – Virginia (WECC) has been awarded the 2018 Honor Award of Excellence – Electrical Project from the ABC Virginia Hampton Roads Chapter for the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital vertical expansion and renovation project.
The ABC-VA Hampton Roads Chapter Excellence in Construction (EIC) is the acknowledgment of outstanding workmanship in the construction industry. Each year, construction companies in Virginia compete to be recognized by ABC as having demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship on a project, typically highlighting how they overcame challenges.

Wilson, NC – The 24th annual Watson Electrical Construction Company’s Apprentice Contest for 2018 was a great success with seventeen apprentices competing for cash and prizes.
This year’s winners are First Place, Wesley Sartain (Raleigh, NC); Second Place, Tim Amerson (Wilson/Rocky Mount, NC); Third Place, James Delauney (Virginia Beach, VA); Fourth Place, Jon McMillian (Wilmington); Fifth Place, Joseph Hensley (Raleigh, NC). The Safety Award winner is Jon McMillian (Wilmington).
Contestants for the contest are from the Watson Electrical Apprentices program and come from across the eleven Watson Electrical NC, SC, and VA locations. The contest includes a written test of knowledge, a safety Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) inspection, and taking a project from a blueprint to its completion.
